There are many times that a portable water purifier can come in handy including the aftermath of a natural disaster or while camping. When a faucet has not had water run through it for a couple of hours, it is normal for a certain amount of bacteria to begin to grow inside the outer edge of the faucet. For an accurate reading, a small flame from a lighter should be passed over the inside of the faucet and then the water ran for a few seconds before testing the sample to see if a home water purification unit is actually necessary.
